Panasonic SF4D-A16 is a sensor array designed for compact and robust arm/foot-protection with intrinsic safety features, achieving safety levels of PL e / SIL3. It incorporates a light curtain sensor with an interference prevention function, external device monitoring capability compatible with 8-core / 12-core cables, and an interlock function that supports both manual and auto reset. Additionally, it offers an override function (with 12-core cable) and a fixed blanking function. The housing is made of aluminum, while the sensing surface is constructed from polycarbonate resin and stainless steel SUS304, with nylon used for the upper and lower cap. This sensor is pre-equipped with a connector for ease of connection. It operates within an ambient air temperature range of -10 to +55 °C and is rated with a degree of protection of IP67. The net height of the sensor, indicating its protective height, is 630 mm. It features 2 x digital outputs (selectable NPN/PNP open-collector / 24Vdc / 60-200mA) for safety outputs OSSD1+OSSD2, and 1 x digital output (selectable NPN/PNP open-collector / 24Vdc / 100mA). The sensing distance ranges from 20cm to 9m in long mode, equivalent to 0.656 to 29.528 feet, and from 80cm to 15m, or 2.625 to 49.213 feet, in long mode. The current consumption for the emitter is 100mA / 0.1 A. It utilizes infrared (IR) light with a wavelength of 850 nm and can detect objects of size 45mm or 1.772 inches.
