Panasonic SF4D-A40 is a sensor array designed for compact and robust arm/foot-protection with intrinsic safety features, achieving safety levels of PL e / SIL3. It incorporates a light curtain sensor with an interference prevention function, external device monitoring capability using an 8-core or 12-core cable, and an interlock function that supports both manual and auto reset. Additionally, it offers an override function with a 12-core cable and a fixed blanking function. The housing is made of aluminum, while the sensing surface is constructed from polycarbonate resin and stainless steel SUS304, with nylon used for the upper and lower cap. It comes pre-equipped with a connector for ease of installation. The sensor operates within an ambient air temperature range of -10 to +55°C and is rated with a degree of protection of IP67. The net height, indicating the protective height, is 1590 mm. It features 2 x digital outputs (selectable NPN/PNP open-collector / 24Vdc / 60-200mA) for safety outputs OSSD1+OSSD2, and 1 x digital output (selectable NPN/PNP open-collector / 24Vdc / 100mA). The sensing distance ranges from 20cm to 9m in long mode, equivalent to 0.656 to 29.528ft, and from 80cm to 15m, or 2.625 to 49.213ft, in long mode. Current consumption is rated at 110mA / 0.11 A for the emitter and 150mA / 0.15 A for the receiver. The light emitted is in the infrared (IR) spectrum with a wavelength of 850 nm, and it can detect objects as small as 45mm or 1.772 inches.
